On November 14, 2017, Assemblymember Jim Patterson of Fresno asked the Joint Legislative Audit Committee for an urgent audit of the California High-Speed Rail Authority.   • I am not in favor of this HSR system. If it is to happen, it must not go through existing communities already established. Especially the south county area of Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy. These are areas that are very incorporated with business, residential, farmland. Farmland in California is to be protected at all costs. My first impression was to have it run east of 101, but that too is too close to us. I would prefer a different approach or better yet nothing at all. This is a money pit and let us not forget that we are in earthquake country with a high rail system I see disaster ahead. I do not want my tax dollars going to something that is not a necessity. We can drive everywhere, use the train or fly….we do not need this.
